See what we’ve been doing

2018 Installation Rally at Medina, OH

Twenty-six of us enjoyed one of the best rallies of the summer while camped at Pier-Lon Campground in Medina, Ohio. Tours offered a new variety for us including a visit to Castle Noel, Bauman Orchards where we enjoyed a picnic lunch and hayride, and a wonderful fall foliage/festival event drive through Wayne and Medina counties. The food! Wow! It was great! We installed our new officers in a formal ceremony who will serve a two-year term for our club. What a great and successful ending to our summer. Thank you to our hosts – Nancy and Alan Jackson and Linda and David Stallard! We cannot wait until next year!

2018 Swiss Festival National Rally at >Sugarcreek, OH
Oh, what a wet week we had, but oh, the joy and smiling faces as Airstreamers came together to overcome the muddy, rainy weather! We donned the boots and slickers early in the week, but Thursday and Friday we enjoyed dryer days for our famous Day in the Park festivities and venue tear down. Saturday was bright and beautiful – perfect for enjoying the festivities downtown and catching one of the best parades around. Oh, and if you haven’t heard – our WBCCI rally float won best of show!

2018 September Rally at New Bethlehem, PA

Thank you Dave and Nancy Brett and Jack and Elaine Ketterer for hosting eleven units at the September Akron Ohio and Mahoning Valley Co-Rally. Much eating and entertainment went into the rally while at the Penn Wood Airstream Park. Tours included a visit to the Debence Antique Music World, as well as an impromptu lesson in court proceedings.  Hope to see everyone in October at the Installation Rally.

2018 August Rally at Titusville, PA

Thank you Fred and Kathy Kiehl and Russ and Janis Martin for another great club rally! Our setup included thirty one people in sixteen trailers at the Oilcreek Family Campground. Our activities included: tours of the Great Eastern Cutlery factory where traditional pocket knives are still being made by hand in “two hundred hands-on processes”, the Drake Well Museum where “the modern oil industry was born”, and the restored home of Ida Tarbell, the investigative journalist who helped to expose Standard Oil’s monopolistic practices leading to the development of U.S. anti-trust laws; a class in zentangle drawing; games; and of course, lots of food! You should be seeing a pattern emerge here, wink! Our highlight of the rally was a trip on the Oilcreek and Titusville Railroad, where, gasp!, a murder was committed right in the middle of the train car’s aisle. The mystery theater actors all did a great job. Thanks to Russ Martin and Bill Watkins for this month’s pictures.

2018 July Rally at Barnesville, OH

Thank you Janice and Ron Swan for a wonderful, busy, fun-filled rally! We group camped at Barkcamp State Park in a private area of the campground. Ron and Janice kept us busy with area tours including The Victorian Mansion,  the Military Veterans Museum, the West Virginia Penitentiary, and Grave Creek Indian Mound. We also enjoyed games, fellowship, and of course, lots of food! Look for us next month aboard the mystery train in Oilcreek, PA! And a shoutout to Russ Martin for sharing his great pictures!

2017 Swiss Festival National Rally

Many members from the Akron Ohio Unit volunteer at WBCCI’s Swiss Festival National Rally in Sugarcreek, Ohio every year.  It takes many hands to achieve a successful rally, and we enjoy the opportunity to participate in the longest, continuous running rally the club.
